of June 2
Dia del Tango in Sofia celebrates 20 years of events! In honor of this anniversary we have planned a series of special events throughout the year to prepare Argentine tango lovers for the special edition of Dia del Tango Sofia in December!
The start will be on June 23rd with a pair of two exceptional musicians from Buenos Aires who conquered not only milongas and concert halls around the world but also social networks with their energy, creativity and virtuosity. In addition to their expressive performances on stage, pianist Cristian Asato and bandoneon player Ayelen Pais captivated the hearts of the tango lovers with their colorful video podcasts dedicated to the history, styles and peculiarities of Argentine tango. They are coming to Sofia for the first time to deliver their iconic musicality workshop for dancers and tango lovers and to play live for tango dancers at a special milonga organized by the Dia del Tango Sofia team in collaboration with Society Tango Space.
18:00 Musicality seminar
This is a workshop for everyone who loves Argentine tango and wants to learn more about this musical genre. With the help of exclusive audio-visual material presenters Cristian Asato and Ayelen Pais will take you through the original performances of the great tango orchestras and complement them with examples performed live on piano and bandoneon which will help you get to know the technical musical elements that make up the tango. The seminar is extremely useful for tango dancers but it is also suitable for non-dancers and musicians who want to learn more about the specifics of the genre. The seminar will be in Spanish + Bulgarian translation.
20:00 Milonga Especial with live music
We expect the milonga to be a truly special experience dominated by the performance of one of the most charming pairs of musicians you've ever heard live. "Assato-Pais" will become a compact tango orchestra with a special repertoire developed and enriched during the many years of playing milongas and major tango festivals around the world. With only piano and bandoneon they will interpret the sound of the most characteristic orchestras for tango, such as Troilo, D'Arienzo, Di Sarli, Pugliese.
